WHAT WE NEED WOMEN

by Elmina Fabon Fallar

Women are looking today for meaning and fulfillment in life yet it seems much of our searching ends in frustration and confusion.

For many years I searched for fulfillment of my needs. As a former mayor’s daughter, I grew up in a humble but prestigious family. I lived in a small house with only one maid. Later I married a municipal treasurer. I had about all this world had to offer, yet in all this I was not lastingly satisfied or fulfilled.

If we are searching for real love, lasting security, inner peace, and a true sense of self worth and purpose, then you will be excited to discover what I did: What God wants us to have in life is exactly what every woman needs!

  1. Love. God offers to provide us the unconditional, self-sacrificing love for which every woman’s heart longs.

The Bible tells us, “In this was manifested the love of God toward us because…. And God showed his love for us by sending his only Son into the world, so that we might have life through him. This is what love is: it is not that we have God, but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the means by which our sins are forgiven. (1 John 4: 9,10)

Jesus said “These things have I spoken unto you…. that your joy might be complete” (John 15:11)

  1. Security. After a women’s hope for security is based on financial stability and social status. But God promised to care for us in every situation. He himself wants to be our security.

The Bible says, “And with all his abundant wealth through Christ Jesus, my God will supply all your needs” (Philippians 4:19)

  1. Peace. In a world full of problems and pressures women are searching everywhere for inner peace regardless of outward circumstances.

He told us, “Peace is what I leave with you; it is my own peace that I give you. I do not give it as the world does. Do not be worried and upset; do not be afraid”. (John 14:27) The Bible also encourages us, “Don’t worry about anything, but in all your prayers, ask God for what you need, always asking him with a thankful heart. And God’s peace, which is far beyond human understanding, will keep your hearts and minds safe in union with Jesus Christ”. (Philippians 4:6,7)

  1. Purpose. God did not make one mold for all women. He has a unique plan full of meaning and purpose for each of us — a purpose in life suited to our special gifts and abilities.

Jesus said, speaking of a full and meaningful life, “I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly” (John 10:10)

  1. Self-worth. The world attributes worth to beauty, intelligence, and talent. Yet our worth in God’s eyes is not measured by any of these things. Regardless of whether or not we have any of those qualities, we are worth so much to Him that He gave His only Son to die for us.

The Bible declares, “For God loved the world so much that he gave his only son, so that everyone who believes in him may not die but have eternal life.” (Jon 3:16)

Jesus, talking to a woman by a well two thousand years ago, said “Everyone who drinks of this water will thirst again, but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give… will never be thirsty again. The water that I will give will become a spring which will provide with life-giving water and give eternal life.” (John 4: 13-14)

Christ offers this same water of eternal life to us women of today. If we desire this living water, all we need to do is.

Recognize that you are a sinner and separated from God. “For all have sinned,” the Bible says, and is far away from God’s saving presence” (Romans 3: 23)

Realize Christ died on the Cross to pay for our sins and bring us back to God. The Bible declares, “But God has shown us how much he loves us — it was while we were still sinners that Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8)

Receive Christ as our personal Saviour. The Bible says, “Some, however, did receive him and believed in him; so he gave them the right to become God’s children” (John 1:12)

Is this the desire of our heart? Do we want to satisfy forever that inner longing for love, peace, security, purpose, and self-worth? If so, the following is suggested as a prayer for us to pray:

Lord Jesus, I want the needs of my heart to be met. I admit I am a sinner and separated from You. Thank you for dying on the Cross for my sins I now trust in You as my personal Saviour. Amen.

If we have taken this step, if we have received Christ as our Saviour, the Bible says we are now a child of God and have eternal life.

It was not until I established a personal relationship with God through His Son, Jesus Christ, that my search ended. Even though I was happily married, with four wonderful children, it is still Christ who meets the deepest needs of my heart and gives my life purpose and fulfillment.

The Christian life is a life of growth. Our food for growth is the Word of God, the Bible. Begin reading the Bible and opening our heart to God in prayer. Seek out a church where the Bible is honored as God’s word and tell others of our decision for Christ.

The reality of my Christian life, can assure that as our relationship with Christ grows stronger, not only will He meet our deepest needs, but we will never thirst again.
