Sitio Panagintingan, Lumbang Weste, Cajidiocan, Romblon—Romblon State University (RSU) has completed the first phase of the University Community Empowerment Through Sustainable Services (UNI-CESS) through a heartwarming gesture of shared solidarity and community spirit in its final location, the Sitio Panagintingan last November 4.
The event, which had a profound theme, “Salu-salo, Sama-sama Para sa Pamilya,” brought the Sibuyan Mangyang Taga-Bukid and the RSU community together to strengthen ties and empower the local community.
In alignment with the RSU’s advocacies of fostering community empowerment in the province, the program also hosted focused group discussions catering to various categories, including kids, teens, mothers, fathers, and single parents.
The formal signing of the Memorandum of Agreement, which represented all stakeholders’ commitment to the UNI-CESS program’s success, was one of the event’s highlights.
Afterward, the RSU team generously distributed treats to the beneficiaries of the “Munting Basura ay Ibulsa” campaign. The community members were invited to open the sweets and properly pocket the wrappers simultaneously, symbolizing the Proper Waste Management Act.
Additionally, the installation of seven L.O.R.E.N. ambassadors, sponsored by Senator Loren Legarda, gave the event an environmental awareness touch. The project L.O.R.E.N. stands for Land restoration and conservation, Ocean protection and conservation, Renewable energy promotion, Environmental education and awareness, and Natural resource management.
The launch of UNI-CESS, along with its partners and sponsors, has established a compassionate foundation for future endeavors, bringing about a positive cascade of change across the community. Thus, as we witnessed the seeds of sustainable service take root, we were reminded that, indeed, together, we can always make a difference.
